Pitt Academy was originally founded in 1949 by Monsignor Felix Newton Pitt. It was designed to provide help and attention in a special class to those children in the school system who were unable to profit from the instruction given in the regular classroom.

Today, Pitt Academy admits students diagnosed with, but not limited to, the following disabilities:

  • Mild to moderate neurological impairments
  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Auditory processing disorder
  • Central nervous system disorder
  • Developmental delay
  • Language processing disorder
  • Speech & language deficit
